Sean "Maxi" McIlvenná was born in Belfast, Ireland, on the 4 April 1951 – 17 December 1984 and was a volunteer in the 2nd Battalion, North Armagh Brigade of the Provisional Irish Republican Army

Sean was born in the Docks area of Belfast and grew up in Fortwilliam Park before settling on the Antrim Road. In 1970, he married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia "Pat" he met at a local youth club. The couple moved to the Dundalk area of County Louth and together had seven children: Sinead, Ciara, Sarah, Patricia, Sean Óg, Fiona and Cathy.. Sean was a Gaelic football enthusiast.

The 33 year old Gaelic enthusiast's life came to an end on the 17th December 1984 after a gun battle with the R.U.C in Blackwaterstown, County Armagh. An active member in the Republican Movement Sean was killed after he was spotted by the R.U.C retreating from the scene of a landmine attack on a U.D.R patrol vehicle.

Himself and another Volunteer made their way across a field to an adjacent road were they were met by the R.U.C who opened fire on them killing Sean. Those who knew Sean as a person stated he was anxious to get the job done, always pushing to get results, a brilliant organiser and a humorous man a credit to the Republican movement.
